Bye Bye - Vacation Time!
- On: 11/21/2009 14:13:39
I can not believe it is 50F in November in Chicago! WHAT a beautiful day. I wish I was outside doing something - but alas, I am tying up all the loose ends and working so I can leave for Tucson tomorrow on our 6am flight! WOO!
I have been looking forward to this trip for a very long time. It has been even longer that I have been on a vacation with out a race attached. The kids and I went to Disney in 08 November, but Jerome was racing IM FL, so I flew up to PCity to watch him after Disney! So, this will be a real treat.
Usually after my last race each season I am itching to come back. That is just how I am - I LOVE the training...but this year, notsomuch. It is Saturday - 1 week since Clearwater and I have yet to do anything exercise related at all. Do I miss it? NO. The only thing I miss is the fresh air and being outside. I do miss that a lot - but that is typical.
In fact, I was even in my PJs all day and night Monday - Wednesday. We didn't have as many kid's activities and I never got out from my desk - all I did was work and cook dinner! EEEKS...but now that it is Saturday, it was all worth it, of course!
Even my house is STILL a mess. I really need to clean when we get home - and I did want to shop more this week and enjoy some OFF season stuff...so I will have to do that in Tucson because I will have the luxury now of not working!
Yesterday I did leave the house and put on real big girl clothes and make-up...and went to the American Girl Doll store in downtown Chicago. We had lunch there and even got Morgan's doll (KIT) ear's pierced. Ok.....after 2 hours in there I was going a little....well a little crazy... but, I LOVED it - but some of these moms are SOOOO over the top. One girl was pushing a DOUBLE STROLLER (like for real twin babies) full of at least 12+ American Girl dolls...NOW these dolls retail for well over $100 each! That doesn't even include all the clothes and pets, etc!!! Um.
Anyway, we had a super time and Morgan thoroughly enjoyed herself...we had dinner out and even shopped on the Magnificant Mile (for us grownups!) and the weather was in the 40s - it was SOOO nice out!!!
Well, I will be off and enjoying some much needed R&R for the next week. I will probably read blogs and who knows ifI will blog or not - only if something comes to me. I do like "relaxing" on the computer sometimes, so that will be a treat for me...but I will not be on really that much.
And, I want to enjoy the kids, Jerome and our family in this little Tucson bubble for the week too. These trips are SO rare, so this is a special treat for us!
I also need to think HARD about 2010 and what I want to do - if anything (Ha). Of course I retired from Triathlon (so dramatic) this past Saturday after the race...but I find myself looking at some races- gasp....so the real question will be IM ROTH in 2010 OR not....I have to make that call first and foremost before I decide what else to do. I have some ideas, but traveling is not really exciting me too much right now...SO....
I need to QUIET the mind. That is my goal for the week.
Perhaps I can become a professional ice skater....I am sure that would be right up my alley!?
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone - be thankfull for all we have! We are all so very, very lucky.

Enjoy the vacay- I want to come visit sometime!!!!! Yes, do IMROTH. Seriously it will be fine and fun. The knee is doing good here- I may be able to run for 30 sec next week, and that is the highlight of my exciting times :) Oh, and those American Doll things? I sometimes see them at goodwill, and one time I saw someone with one of them and mentioned how I see those all the time at the goodwill down the street. She flipped when I told her that- telling me how expensive the were, etc. I just couldn't believe how much those things cost! Next time I see some of that stuff for $1, I will send it Morgan's way.- #5

You SO deserve this time off and away. I know your kids will enjoy the time with mommy and daddy immensely! Let me know if you are really able to quiet your mind...I just can't fathom. Hopefully the family, shopping, and fun will distract you from the tri world. Maybe we can shoot for another din din together after the holidays. Anyway, enjoy!!!- #7
