It's Time!

Someone asked me why in the HECK we are heading to Tucson in the middle of July....ha, clearly that person does not live in Chicago. It is lovely here - 70s. Lovely! But, we want searing heat - and I am SURE 108F will quench that urge.
We are out of here in literally 30 minutes. I finished my last schedule and work just about 15 minutes ago. So, now I can go off and relax! I am really looking forward to it. We come back on Monday afternoon, so not terribly long, BUT with two little kids at home, that IS alot of time (thanks to my sister/parents for helping us out!).
Yesterday, was the culmination of a weird week. Not anything to do related to Triathlon at all. Yes, I do do other things. Well, on Sunday we headed down to Yorkville to celebrate my nephew's 5th birthday - well it is literally on the other side of the world - well, not really, but it is FAR (haha) and we ate too many fun cupcakes and pulled pork sandwhiches and then Jerome and I had to leave early to see the KID ROCK concert in Tinley Park (need I say more?).
Yes, if you are on FB you are tortured with that continuously, so I apologize for that. BUT not for loving Kid Rock. It was HILARIOUS, we were so out of place laughing our little triathlon fit asses off. Lynard Skynard opened for him. He was good, but that was 6.30pm. Kid Rock did not come on until 9.15pm, just as Jerome and I started yawning and our neighbors offered us some weed. I LOVE IT (no, of course I did not smoke weed). Kid Rock was super and worth it all. You know what I was NOT prepared for? Not, not the open sex or open drugs or any other totally white trash act - it was the PARENTS (I say that loosely) that brought their little kids? LIKE, um, 7 years old. I mean, Kid ROCK IS NOT clean....every other word is a swear or something even worse. I was literally sick to my stomach at the number of VERY young kids there. Ick.
After the concert we were starving! (wonder why) and wanted to make a DENNY's run but settled for gas station slop - with a lovely officer of the law there and us smelling like weed. Classic.
Anyway, Miss Daisy got home at 1am. I had to text some of the Masters swimmers telling them I will NOT be there to coach by 6am - no way I can pull that one off. Well, I was so tired from jumping up and down on concrete all night I was killing myself and hating myself on Monday morning. And, I smelled like weed and felt like I was still stoned. LOVELY. Oh, and 38 years old...not a great combo. I rolled my sorry A$$ to Pilates and the whole thing was a total disaster, so I cancelled all my "constructive" workouts for the day. I didn't even have the kids home with me - they were at my sisters!!! But, I was useless. I thought - NOW REALLY DO PEOPLE do this all the time NO wonder they hate working out?? I can NOT party like a rock star.
Fast forward thru Monday (thank god) and I finally feel like a human again on Tuesday and was able to get up early @ 5am and head out for a 2 hour ride /T run that morning - My sister had kept the kids overnight for the Kid Rock concert and 1 other night, so I had to take advantage of that! Then, I headed out to pick up the kids and pick my neice too for another sleepover night! YAY!
On Wednesday it was camp day and the 3 of the kids were heading up north to S. Wisconsin for a SLEEPOVER camp. Yep. I CAN NOT believe it but they love it - TRUE camp and on a lake and outdoors all the time - fun! Well, as most of you that read FB know, I was in a car accident on the way up. Just sitting at a light and then BAM, Ford 350 hit another Ford 150 truck and into me. Ick. I was so upset NOT because anyone in my car was hurt, but b/c the idiot guy that hit us (first truck) was a total asshole and never asked about the kids and NO one was calling 911 and I was screaming and crying at the LOSERS at the gas station smoking cigarrettes with their thumbs up their A$$es while I was hit with 3 kids in the back. I mean, get a life you losers. So, they finally called. BTW** I did try to call 911 and it did not go thru? Don't ask. I called Jerome and he came to my rescue. While my car eventually was able to drive away - we will have to get it fixed, but we could move it - I did not want the kids NOT to get to their camp and they were FINE....I was just emotional due to the fact that I had gone thru that accident in September. So, anyway, no huge deal, but no FUN...at all. Seriously, a split second is all it takes. VERY scarey how life can change. Oh, and I will be starting to fit for NO cell phone/texting laws here in IL. (!).
So, here I am today. NO KIDS and off to Tucson. Jerome knew what would cheer me up and offered to go swimming at the lake with me early this AM. I was worried I would wake up SUPER stiff - and I did a little bit, but I was fine, so up at 5am and we headed off. Except for goose poop - we had a nice 2 mile swim in the early AM...and then he got coffee and I got a bagel and we both went off to work. Nevermind I got to watch the TOUR at work, but my boss rocks.
So, here it is 4pm. TICK TOCK goes my clock. Jerome will be home any minute and will whisk me away to our little home in sunny and hot Tucson. I am hoping that I destroy my body and legs so much that he has to wheel me back home on Monday morning. Mt. Lemmon, Sabino Canyon, fish tacos at Blanco, and some pool time (NO SWIMMING). And, we will bike and run and I will chase Jerome for 3 days. And, I promised, NO SWIMMING (he hates it), so we are set.
Oh, and Jerome already told me he is going to talk to me for the ENTIRE 4 hour flight about doing an Ironman with him next year. Just what I need (like a kick in the head). Let's see if he succeeds....4 hours is a long time for Jerome to talk. Hmm, I must find some good trashy magazines...
GOOD luck to everyone racing this weekend. It is a HUGE weekend here - Racine, Evergreen Lake (Best of the US - IL), etc. I struggled with racing this weekend versus going to Tucson...but I am sticking to my original NO RACING in July plan....so, if you are looking for me, I will be on the road...with the sun on my back cooking us both! And, we can't wait! :)

Super excited that you are getting some time in the sun and Super excited that I kinda know who kid rock is now. Sorta. Jerome talking for 4 hrs, um, proof? Did you tape at least 30 min of it?:)

Hope you have a good hot weekend in Tucson. No worries on not swimming while you're there... pools in AZ in the summer are like 90+ degrees and you can't get a good workout in anyway. ;)- #14

I can't believe those jackasses in the truck, I'm so glad you guys are all ok. I also can't believe you just referred to Lynard Skynard as a "he!" It's like Jethro Tull...there's no guy in the band named that, just the name of the band!Have fun in AZ!
