blahblahblahblahblahblah

HA!  No, really, I am JUST fine.  I hesitated about writing a blog because well...since Friday when I wrote the blog about my AWESOME State 1650y swim, it has been very BLAH around here.  I am SO very excited because one of my swim friends emailed me and told me my state time (so far before Nationals) that my 1650y time is the 5th fastest in the Nation as of right now for my AG 35-39.  NOW that made my day!!!  Of course not all the fast swimmers swim in their 1650y but I will take it.  Beggers can't be choosers.

We had a super busy weekend.  Socially, it was time to get my groove on and celebrate!  We had a soccer game on Saturday, 1st communion party and surprise 40th party for my brother-in-law Saturday night -  Miss Daisy was talked out....phew!

Sunday rolled around and we woke up to temps in the 30s, blowing winds and rain/sleet.  Hmmm....I told Jerome I am not going to our 30k TT race if the weather is VERY bad.  I am not going to risk riding my disc in standing, wet water logged roads and where we can not see.  PLUS freeze our asses off.  And, if you have been reading my blog for a bit, you know one Mother's Day I drove down to a pouring TT and they cancelled it.

THIS TT on Sunday - they couldn't cancel it b/c it is like this every weekend and they said they would never be able to run any TTs this spring if they cancelled due to inclement weather!  classic.

At 7.45am the doorbell rang...it was Melody, our dear babysitter...so, Jerome and I looked at one another...it was now or never to head out.  We loaded the car with our TT race gear and off we went.  It was only sprinkling, but we knew what would possibly be on the horizon as we drove 45 minutes west.  Dean, our good friend, was on his way too.

We got to the TT race and there was everyone!  I love athletes in Chicago - rain, snow or sleet, there we are...I mean, do we have a choice?  Nope...so we shut up and put out.  We warmed up (ha) the best we could and off we went.  30k TT and it poured piss rain on us the entire time...but once you are wet, you are wet.  Jerome froze his ass off and nicely waited for me...and when we got back to the car he was DONE and sooo bone chilled he stayed in the car while I put on a fresh hat, gloves and my running shoes - I had a T run to do and get it done.  I laugh thinking IF there is ever a Triathlon in PISS rain and sleet and 40 degrees, I would win!  Nevermind this 95F degree weather!  who needs it!  Got back to the car - changed so fast after talking to Brian H and Katie and we headed out for breakfast.  Jerome was still not warming up - he was totally off....I rode just 90" slower than last year - or so - I have no idea b/c you know how those bike races to - they are SOOOO slow to post any results and I was NOT sticking around for results in that weather.  So, we will see how I did someday soon!?

**I KNOW THIS IS SO RIVETING TO YOU**

But, the TT was hard.  I am on my new TT bike, which is not set up perfectly for me yet. Did you see my HUGE bruise on FB I posted? now seriously....  Doing a bike fit is So hard...when jerome gets home and we put the kids to bed (8pm) I am SOOO trashed to get on my bike and have the patience to do the bike fit....then, our weekends are jammed...so, I have got to get that nailed down b/c my crotch and achilles hurt a bit today and that is b/c I was too high on my bike for that 30k.  eeeks!

Oh, guess what?  I know....here it comes....then, I ran on Monday in full gear and sleet and hail.  Oh wait...guess what?  I did track today - 800s way off my target time in full gortex and gloves/hat and 34 F and guess what? Sideways 30 mph sleet.

So, if you are tired of hearing me talk about this crappy weather then get your butt to Chicago and train with me.  And, live like we live and see how long you can suck this up.  7 months for us.  Nope, no need to say anything to make us feel better....thanks for thinking about us though, but I WOULD BE TIRED of us/me talking about it too!!!

At the end of the day, I am like Bri Gaal, who today in her blog said she was just going to complain and then realized WHYYYY.  Good idea, Bri.  So, I ask myself WHY but then realize THIS IS MY LIFE and I have nothing else to say.  Oh, and that they cancelled soccer practice, that my kids desperately wanted to go to - for the 3rd week in a row due to inclement weather - so, yes, I can handle this weather - I am an adult - but at 7 years old....they don't really understand why they can't have recess in April OR soccer practice in April (almost May!)!

Oh, and I am doing a Sprint Triathlon this Sunday - can't wait ...(pool swim of course, you sillies) and it is suppsoed to be 40F and rain.  Let's see if I can pull off a win.  I mean, why not?  I may wear my pink goggles on the run.  You think I am kidding.  Miss Daisy might wear her Depends and pink goggles - someone has to have some fun around these parts!

Jen, why do you think i LOOOOVE you as my coach. ( lotsa reasons but this is your blog not mine) You get the weather. I think you and I pass it back and forth..ping pong temps and rain and sleet.
Hang in there and as much as getting out in the winter is good it is April that is TRULY trying for me. Just seems like we never have spring. And if you ever hear me whine about it being too hot ask me if i want to go back to 4/20 or 4/21. Ha.
Hang on...its coming....Good luck this weekend.

Now that is hard core, doing a bike TT in that weather! You might have to move further north for more of a challenge next year. awesome on the top 5 time in the country in the 1650!

You are a rocket in the pool, and you're going to do GREAT this weekend! yeah - I saw the bruise... ouch!!! There's nothing that I can say to make you feel better about the weather - I'm just sorry. It sucks. I hope Jerome is feeling better and de-thawed... I bet the breakfast afterwards tasted great!

I did my bike ride and run in the 43 F, rain and wind yesterday.

I am moving my workouts around this week to ride in the 80 +...if it comes.  We are going STRAIGHT to SUMMER!  No spring at all.

I complain more than you do about the weather and I do my rides inside so you make me look extra pathetic.  But I didn't grow up in this crap and I don't think I'll ever get used to it.  Seriously, it is April 22nd - at least this weekend will be fantastic.

Move to Colorado...I have a house to sell you ;-)  But seriously...wow, your sucky weather just keeps coming.  Nice job on the TT, the transition run, and the 1650y top 5.  WooHoo!

I will die laughing if you do the run leg in your goggles, AND win the whole thing. Good luck and kick butt!

I come by here for inspiration, and this is what I get?  Blah blah blah?  :-)

I thought I was nuts riding my bike in 30 degree weather last year!  But this, is downright killa!  Ha!  Us triathletes are so HTFU, and this is just one aspect of it.  You Chicago peeps are freakin hard core!!  I lurve it....

p.s.  If you do decide to race nekkid, wear pink compression socks....

Race naked? You won't be able to feel your fingers to get your helmet off in transition... and your feet will feel like ice blocks starting that run. GRRRR. Good luck with that!!

I don't think I would do triathlons if I lived in Chicago. ;) I'M SO SPOILED.

You blah blah blah blah blah is pretty entertaining.  I guess everyone around the country is enthralled about stories of bad weather.  Great news on the 1650y age group placement!!!

I'm always amazed at the amount of gutts that you Northerners have.  I think I would fall completely flat on my arse as a triathlete if I didn't live somewhere warm.  Good luck this weekend; kick some hiney!
